What is an AAC app?

AAC stands for augmentative and alternative communication. An AAC app lets a person communicate by tapping pictures or words on a screen, and the device speaks the message out loud. It can be used alongside speech, signs, gestures and other ways of communicating. Read our beginner’s guide to AAC.

Is TalkTiles free?

Yes, TalkTiles is free to start. The starter board, sentence strip, speech and search are free. An optional Pro subscription adds tools to create, clone and customize boards, cards and libraries.

Does TalkTiles work on Amazon Fire tablets?

Yes. Basic communication works offline, so the board and speech keep working without Wi-Fi.

Do I need an account to use TalkTiles?

Not at the moment. TalkTiles is made for Android and Amazon Fire tablets.

Does TalkTiles show ads or track my child?
